AVIate Dashboard Privacy Policy

Aviate Dashboard is a Chrome extension published by Aviate Media, an independent brand strategy and design practice established in 2014 and based in Brisbane and Melbourne, Australia.
PRIVACY SUMMARY
Aviate Dashboard is designed to keep your information on your device.
The extension does not collect or transmit your personal information or extension data to Aviate Media or any third party. It does not sell or share user data and does not use analytics, tracking, advertising, cookies, accounts or third-party services.
Aviate Dashboard locally accesses your Chrome bookmarks so it can display and search them. Your dashboard layouts, settings, notes and uploaded images are stored locally in Chrome's extension storage on your device.
WHAT AVIate DASHBOARD DOES
Aviate Dashboard replaces Chrome's new tab page with a customisable dashboard.
It allows you to:
• display your existing Chrome bookmark folders and bookmarks on a dashboard;
• search your bookmarks;
• create multiple boards and layouts;
• add headings and notes;
• upload images and background photographs;
• customise colours, typography and other design settings;
• display a clock;
• export your dashboard configuration to your computer; and
• import a previously exported dashboard configuration.
WHAT THE EXTENSION ACCESSES AND WHY
Bookmarks
Aviate Dashboard uses Chrome's bookmarks permission to read your existing Chrome bookmark folders and bookmarks so they can be displayed and searched within your dashboard.
Your bookmarks are read locally through Chrome's bookmarks API. Aviate Dashboard does not modify your bookmarks, copy them to an Aviate Media system, upload them to a server or send them to any third party.
The extension may read changes to your Chrome bookmarks so the dashboard can remain consistent with your current bookmark structure.
Dashboard settings and content
Aviate Dashboard stores information you create within the dashboard locally in Chrome's extension storage.
This may include:
• board names;
• dashboard layouts and item positions;
• headings;
• notes you type;
• colours and typography settings;
• other design and display preferences; and
• images and background photographs you choose to upload.
Images are resized locally before being stored.
This information remains on your device and is not transmitted to Aviate Media or a third party.
FAVICONS
Aviate Dashboard can display the small website icons associated with your bookmarks.
These favicons are displayed using Chrome's built-in favicon functionality. The extension uses Chrome's local favicon information and does not contact external favicon services or website servers to obtain icons.
BOOKMARK SEARCHES
When you use the search box in Aviate Dashboard, your search query is processed locally against your Chrome bookmarks.
Search queries are not logged by Aviate Media and are not transmitted to Aviate Media or any third party.
WHERE YOUR DATA IS STORED
Aviate Dashboard stores its dashboard data in Chrome's local extension storage on your device.
The extension does not provide its own cloud storage or account system and does not sync your Aviate Dashboard data between devices.
If Chrome itself provides broader browser-level functionality outside Aviate Dashboard, that functionality is governed by Google's own terms and privacy practices.
EXPORT AND IMPORT
You can manually export your Aviate Dashboard layout as a JSON file. That file is saved to your own computer.
You can later import an exported JSON file back into Aviate Dashboard.
Export and import are performed locally on your device. Aviate Dashboard does not upload exported or imported files to Aviate Media or any third party.
WHAT AVIate DASHBOARD DOES NOT COLLECT
Aviate Dashboard does not collect or transmit user data to Aviate Media or third parties.
In particular, Aviate Dashboard does not operate:
• user accounts or sign-in;
• analytics;
• behavioural tracking;
• advertising;
• advertising identifiers;
• tracking cookies;
• remote user databases; or
• third-party data collection services.
The extension makes no network requests of its own.
PERMISSIONS
Aviate Dashboard requests only the Chrome permissions required to provide its dashboard functionality.
bookmarks: To read and display your Chrome bookmark folders and bookmarks and allow you to search them within the dashboard.
storage: To save your dashboard layouts, boards, notes, design preferences and settings locally.
unlimitedStorage: To allow uploaded images and background photographs to be stored locally without Chrome's standard extension storage quota restricting normal use.
favicon: To display website icons associated with your bookmarks using Chrome's built-in favicon functionality.
THIRD PARTIES
Aviate Dashboard does not send extension data to third-party services and does not contain third-party analytics, advertising or tracking services.
When you click a bookmark, Chrome opens the destination website normally. Information that you provide to, or that is collected by, a website you choose to visit is governed by that website's own privacy practices and is outside Aviate Dashboard's control.
CHROME WEB STORE LIMITED USE
The use of information received from Google APIs and Chrome APIs by Aviate Dashboard adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Information accessed through Chrome permissions is used only to provide Aviate Dashboard's user-facing functionality.
Aviate Media does not sell, transfer or use this information for personalised advertising, retargeting, marketing, data brokerage, creditworthiness, lending decisions or purposes unrelated to Aviate Dashboard's stated functionality.
Aviate Media personnel do not have access to the user's locally stored bookmark information, notes, images, dashboard layouts, settings or search queries because this information is not transmitted to Aviate Media.
SECURITY
Aviate Dashboard is designed to minimise privacy and security risks by keeping extension data locally on the user's device rather than transmitting it to Aviate Media or external services.
Users should still take normal precautions to protect access to their computer, Chrome profile and any exported Aviate Dashboard JSON files.
DELETING YOUR DATA
You can delete Aviate Dashboard's locally stored dashboard data by using the "Reset everything" option within the extension's settings.
Uninstalling Aviate Dashboard also removes data stored in the extension's local Chrome storage.
Any JSON files that you have manually exported to your computer are ordinary files under your control and can be deleted using your computer's file management tools.
CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
Aviate Dashboard is not specifically directed at children and does not knowingly collect or transmit personal information from children or adults to Aviate Media.
All dashboard information handled by the extension remains locally on the user's device as described in this policy.
AUSTRALIAN PRIVACY LAW
Aviate Media is based in Australia. Privacy matters are approached with regard to the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles to the extent they apply.
Aviate Dashboard is designed so that personal information used within the extension is not collected or held by Aviate Media. User information accessed by the extension remains on the user's device as described in this policy.
CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
This privacy policy may be updated if Aviate Dashboard's functionality, data practices or legal obligations change.
If a future version materially changes how user information is accessed, used, stored or transmitted, the privacy policy and relevant Chrome Web Store disclosures will be updated accordingly.
The effective date at the top of this page will identify the current version of the policy.
